Frequently asked questions

What we offer in the sessions?

Our art room sessions take place at Highway Community Centre in Penryn. We typically run in 'seasons' giving you an opportunity to get your teeth stuck into a specific type of art over a period of time. This has previously included: painting, drawing, batik, marbling, papermaking, textiles to name a few.

It can be a little daunting to know where to start sometimes so we provide a start point for each session that could include collaborative work, technique and skills sessions, spontaneous and intuitive sessions. But we also encourage self-directed work where you follow what you are interested in using the materials on offer.

Our sessions are led by creatives and supported by enthusiastic volunteers providing gentle tuition and encouragment.

Yes. However you may risk missing out on the focus of the session particularly if it it's collaborative.

What are the benefits?

At ColourRiot we believe in the therapeutic power of taking time out to be creative. It can be fun, relaxing, explorative, a form of self-expression and personal growth as well as a way to connect with others. It's joyful expression can have positive knock on effects into your life, overflowing into your friends, family, colleagues and into the community.

Who is the art room for?

We welcome any age to our sessions. In our Friday morning sessions we look to cover the National Curriculum Art and Design pointers to serve our home education families. This includes developing and sharing ideas, experiences and inspirations. Developing a range of art and design techniques in using colour, pattern, texture, line, shape, form and space, whilst being inspired by other artists, designers, makers and architects.
